A suitable space should have a clean, uncluttered surface, adequate lighting, and access to handwashing facilities. Outdoor or heavily trafficked public areas are not appropriate.

Patients with a history of significant complications or higher procedural risk should be evaluated in a traditional office setting. This includes, for example, individuals with bleeding disorders, severe allergies to anesthetics, previous implant migration, or difficult prior placements/removals.
